Student Reviews

Feedback from Those Who Studied With Us

These reviews reflect genuine variation — some students found the material demanding, others found the pace comfortable, and a few had reservations worth noting.

PS

Panida Suwannarat

Bangkok · ML Engineer

"I had tried two other NLP courses before this one and always ended up confused when I tried to apply things. The Pikanet Code material took longer but it actually made sense. The attention mechanism section in particular — I finally understood what was happening rather than just knowing the steps."

Arjun Krishnamurthy

Chennai · Product Manager, AI

"The Ethics programme is not what I expected — it is more philosophically serious than most AI ethics content I had encountered. The written assignments pushed me harder than I anticipated. I would have appreciated more concrete regulatory guidance for Southeast Asian markets, but the foundational frameworks it covers are genuinely useful."

Weerasak Pongpan

Chiang Mai · Software Engineer

"The production track filled a gap I did not know how to fill with books or tutorials. I had built ML models but had no real framework for thinking about deployment and ongoing maintenance. The practical project was substantial — more work than I expected — but it is the part that stuck."

Nguyen Lan Anh

Ho Chi Minh City · Data Scientist

"Solid material. The writing is denser than most online courses which I appreciated, though it did slow me down considerably in the first few weeks. The exercises with the open datasets were the most useful part — they required actual thought rather than copying patterns from examples."

Siti Barokah

Jakarta · Policy Researcher

"I am not an engineer but I work on AI policy and needed to understand the ethical dimensions properly rather than at a surface level. This programme gave me the frameworks to think more carefully. The section on environmental impact was particularly well-developed — I had not seen it treated seriously elsewhere."

Ratchata Thongprayoon

Bangkok · Backend Developer

"I came from backend development without much ML background and the track was genuinely challenging in places. The support was good — the replies were detailed and I felt the person actually read what I had written. The project took me about 14 weeks but I now have something to show rather than just notes."

Case Studies

What Students Did After Completing the Programmes

Challenge

Building a text classification pipeline for a Thai e-commerce platform

A developer at a Bangkok-based e-commerce company needed to build a product categorisation system but had only worked with rule-based approaches. Standard tutorials on transformer models left her unclear on why choices were being made.

Approach

Completed the NLP course over nine weeks, working through the text representation and fine-tuning material in detail. Used the applied exercises directly as a scaffold for the production task.

Reached out with specific questions about tokenisation for Thai text, which were answered directly with relevant context rather than generic advice.

Outcome

Built a working classification system with 87% accuracy on the company's product catalogue. Was able to explain the design decisions to non-technical colleagues because she understood them herself.

"The difference between this and other courses was that I came out understanding why things work, not just which library to call."

Challenge

Formalising AI governance practices at a financial services firm in Singapore

A compliance officer needed to develop internal guidance on AI model deployment but found most available resources either too technical or too superficial to form the basis of actual policy.

Approach

Completed the AI Ethics and Responsible Development programme over seven weeks alongside work responsibilities. Used the written assignments to draft early versions of governance documentation.

The fairness frameworks and accountability structures sections formed the basis of a risk assessment template later adopted by the firm.

Outcome

Developed a three-page internal policy framework for AI model deployment that was accepted by the firm's risk committee. The programme gave him a vocabulary and set of frameworks he did not previously have.

"It treats ethics as a serious analytical discipline, not as a checklist. That was what I needed to make the argument internally."
